Why Your Next Great AE Might Be in Bogotá, Not Boston

TLDR: Salesforce just opened a 2,000-person campus in Mexico City. HubSpot moved its Latin America headquarters to Bogota. Deel, Okta, and Braze are all running quota-carrying Account Executive teams out of the region, not just support desks. This is not a cost play wearing a strategy costume, it is a real shift in where SaaS companies expect their next wave of enterprise closers to come from. Hiring managers still treating LATAM as a place to park SDRs and support tickets are already behind. The companies that learn to recruit, structure, and retain LATAM sales talent properly will out-hire everyone still fishing in the same overworked US pool.

The Money Doesn't Lie

In November 2025, Salesforce opened its largest office in Latin America, a 192,000 square foot campus in Mexico City's Polanco district built to hold up to 2,000 employees. This followed HubSpot's move to make Bogota, Colombia its Latin America headquarters, consolidating a regional operation that already includes hundreds of go to market staff. These are not modest satellite offices. They are flagship bets from two of the most sophisticated go to market organizations in software.

The scale matters because Salesforce and HubSpot do not open offices for optics. Both companies run sophisticated real estate and headcount models tied directly to quota capacity. A 2,000-seat campus is a statement about where the sales organization is headed over the next five to ten years, not a PR exercise.

This Isn't the Old Nearshore Story

The old pitch for hiring in Latin America was support and SDR work, cheap headcount for the jobs nobody wanted to scale in the US. That story is over. Deel, Okta, and Braze all run quota-carrying Account Executives out of the region today, closing new business rather than just booking meetings for someone else to close. HubSpot's own job postings show Account Executives based in Colombia and Mexico running full sales cycles across Latin American and US territories.

Cost is still part of the equation. Companies hiring through nearshore channels report saving twenty to forty percent against US comp for equivalent roles, and more than thirty five thousand dollars a year per hire once benefits and overhead are included. But cost was always available. What changed is depth. Mexico alone has an estimated eight hundred thousand tech professionals, Brazil around five hundred thousand, and Colombia around one hundred sixty five thousand, and the sales and GTM talent pool sitting alongside that technical base has matured just as fast.

What Hiring Managers Still Get Wrong

Most SaaS hiring managers still think of LATAM sales hiring as a junior play, a way to staff BDR pods cheaply while keeping the real Account Executive seats in Austin or Denver. That model is already out of date. The market has produced a genuine bench of bilingual closers who have run full enterprise cycles for companies like HubSpot and Salesforce, who understand US buyer psychology as well as any domestic rep, and who are being paid a fraction of what the role is worth once you benchmark against actual quota attainment rather than location.

The winning profile is not the cheapest resume. It is the rep who has already closed against US territories, speaks near native English, and has been trained inside a GTM motion sophisticated enough to survive scrutiny from a board that watches Rule of 40 metrics closely. Hiring managers who treat this as a discount SDR hire will lose that rep to a company that treats them as a real Account Executive with a real quota, a real comp plan, and a real path to enterprise or team lead. The companies opening 2,000-person campuses already know this. The ones still writing LATAM job specs like it's 2019 do not.
